Linkous Lads
The Eta Lambda Chapter's main community service program is called Linkous Lads. This consists of a number of brothers tutoring at-risk elementary children at one of the local elementary schools, Gilbert Linkous Elementary. Starting 8 years ago, Sigma Chi partnered with the Delta Delta Delta sorority in weekly tutoring that involves many activities. The brothers visit the children either during recess or during the child's lunch period, while also assisting their "lad" in school work, social skills, and developmental growth areas. After awhile, our brothers become great friends, mentors, and role models for their kids. Additionally, there are monthly outside-school events held (bowling, VT basketball game, holiday party) in which the mentors and their lads interact.

Local Service Opportunities
Our chapter also participates in events such as Relay for Life, The Big Event, and Joggin' for the Noggin 5K annually. During these, our chapter seeks to raise as much money as possible from the brotherhood and participate in the events. In 2009, the Eta Lambda chapter raised over $400 for Relay for Life and also had a team of brothers participate and donate to Joggin' for the Noggin 5K. We are always looking for service opportunities to expand our horizon. If you have any information about an upcoming event that you would like us to help or participate in, don't hesitate to contact our community service chairman via e-mail (from the Officer page).
